NLSD announces how schools will open across the north next week

The Northern Lights School Division (NLSD) has announced how students will proceed with classes next week.

Communities where schools are permitted to open at level two, which is full in-class learning with mask usage required, are Bear Creek, Brabant Lake, Cole Bay, Jans Bay and Uranium City.

Communities where schools are at level three, which means reduced in-class learning, are Air Ronge, Beauval, Buffalo Narrows, Cumberland House, La Loche, La Ronge and Timber Bay.

Communities where schools will operated at level four, which means mandatory remote learning, are Green Lake, Pinehouse Lake, Sandy Bay, St. Georges Hill, Stony Rapids and Weyakwin.

The division plan will evolve as required by emerging health risk assessments.

“We wanted to make you aware that we are experiencing increased COVID-19 activity in northern Saskatchewan,” a letter issued Friday by the school division states. “We are asking everyone to be extra vigilant. Protect yourself and your family at all times during the pandemic by following all public health recommendations and ensuring you do your part to stop the spread.”

The letter states the health, safety and well-being of school communities remains a top priority.
