Another 53 new cases of COVID-19 reported, including 14 in Saskatchewan’s north

The latest update from the provincial government shows 53 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the province includes 14 in the northern zones of Saskatchewan. These additional cases, as well as 40 new recoveries reported, brings the provincial total to 49,039 cases; 48,150 cases recovered and 319 cases currently considered active.

The new cases in Northern Saskatchewan are located in the following zones: Far North West, five; Far North East, three; North West, one; and North Central, five. Seven cases are pending residence information. Two cases were reassigned to the following zones: Regina, one; and South East, one. Seven cases were found to be out-of-province residents and were removed from the following zones: Far North East, one; North West, one; Saskatoon, one; and Regina, four. One case, a Saskatchewan resident tested out-of-province, was added to the Saskatoon zone.

One new death was reported today in the 40 to 49 age group from the North West zone.

NITHA Data

As of July 6, there are 133 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), five; Far North West, 23; Far North East, 105; North Central, 0; and North East, 0. There are 35 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; two, Far North West, 12; and Far North East, 21. There have been 3,689 cases (96%) that have recovered, and 12 people are hospitalized.

Vaccines Reported

An additional 13,719 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 1,247,253. Over half a million Saskatchewan residents are now fully vaccinated.

The additional 13,719 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Far North West, 130; Far North Central, six; Far North East, 153; North West, 1,620; North Central, 1,008; North East, 561; Saskatoon, 4,050; Central West, 311; Central East, 730; Regina, 3,311; South West, 279; South Central, 329; and South East, 811. There were 420 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

Seventy-one per cent of those 12+ have received their first dose and 50 per cent of those 12+ are fully vaccinated.
