Ice Wolves goalie heading to Boston after two seasons in La Ronge

Apr 26, 2024 | 1:04 PM

After two seasons with the La Ronge Ice Wolves, goalie Topher Chirico is off to college.

The team has announced that Chirico has committed to the Wentworth Institute of Technology, a Division III school in Boston starting this fall.

Last season, Chirico played in 45 games, posting a 13-27 record with a 3.80 Goals against Average, as he faced more than 1,700 shots in the season.

Chirico said he chose Wentworth because of the options available for Business Studies. He’s also looking forward to what he calls a hockey program with core values and a culture that aligns well with him.

“La Ronge was such an amazing place to play, such a great community and we had a good group of guys on the team,” said Chirico. “I will always cherish my time in La Ronge.”

Chirico is the third 2023-24 Ice Wolves member to commit to a post-secondary school for the coming season. Last month Layton Shearon announced he would be heading to Trinity Western University.
