Fire department prepared for wildfire season
The La Ronge Regional Fire Department has made changes in anticipation of the wildfire season.
“Regional municipal plans have been adjusted, and the quad leaders have been proactively updating how to better manage another event,” Fire Chief Keaton Cloud wrote in an email to larongeNOW.
“We’ve also been working with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) to provide annual wildfire training for all firefighters that takes place in April/May. SPSA has also taken steps to improve from last year, but I can’t speak more on their behalf.”
The regional fire department has invested in new equipment such personal protective equipment, radio, hand tools, as well as new command trucks that will be able to carry wildland skid units for faster initial attack on urban brush fires and structure fires, along with various other equipment.
