Grand re-opening held for La Ronge Co-op Food Store

It was a big day for Lake Country Co-op as a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the La Ronge Food Store as part of a grand re-opening.

“Co-op has always played a huge role in La Ronge providing a food store, hardware, for many decades, and we’re happy to reinvest in the community,” said CEO Tim Keller.

“It was about a $10 million renovation this project was. I want to thank the board of directors for their vision of investing in rural communities, making sure rural communities have the supplies and the facilities they need to live in and play in their community.”

The Lake Country Co-op began renovating the La Ronge Food Store in 2025. It included an upgrade to the interior and exterior of the building, every department underwent a full refresh, the warehouse space was expanded, and there’s been improvements to product availability to offer a wider selection of items.

Lake Country Co-op has also introduced new specialty offerings, including a popcorn kitchen and a dedicated candy space.

“We are pleased to have invested dollars to revamp this store and our investment into the community shows how serious we are about remaining relevant and making sure that this store meets the future needs of the community of La Ronge,” said Co-op Chairperson Rick Kindrachuk.

“On behalf of the board of directors, thank you to our contractors, thank you to the staff for putting up with the renovations, as well as the customers who had to go through a little bit of inconvenience during the renovations. I think it was well worth it and It’s beautiful, revamped store.”

Aside from the ribbon cutting, the event included in-store sampling from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with special sales starting Thursday and continuing until Sunday. There are also five prizes up for grabs, including a 60-second food shopping spree.
