La Ronge RCMP kept busy with firearm discharge incident, robbery

A man who was found hiding in a crawl space after allegedly discharging a firearm towards a person in the community of Hall Lake was discovered by police shortly after the incident.

Around 7:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 17, La Ronge RCMP received a report about the shooting. The person who was shot at was not physically injured. Police learned the suspect had driven to a home in the community. When they showed up there, the suspect hiding in the crawl space resisted arrest. He was eventually taken into custody, and police located a firearm matching the description of the initial report.

A 34-year-old man from La Ronge faces multiple charges, including one count of discharging a firearm with intent. He made his first court appearance on May 19.

In a separate and unrelated incident, a 26-year-old man from La Ronge is facing robbery and theft charges after RCMP received a report of a robbery in the community on May 15, around 10 p.m.

Their investigation determined a man entered a vehicle with two female occupants and demanded they start driving toward a residence in La Ronge where the man exited the vehicle and ran away with a purse belonging to one of the occupants. Police arrested the suspect at the home. No injuries were reported.

He also made his first court appearance on May 19.
