Pelican Narrows arrest two people on drug and weapons charges

Pelican Narrows RCMP have arrested and charged two people after seizing firearms, drugs, and trafficking paraphernalia at a Pelican Narrows home.

After police received a call alleging someone was being forcibly confined in a residence, police attended and found that the individual in question had been assaulted by an adult male in the home. The victim reported non-life threatening injuries and that he had been prevented from leaving.

Officers found two firearms, an imitation firearm, about 40 grams of crystal meth, a small amount of fentanyl, cash, and trafficking paraphernalia.

Police made arrests on a 36-year-old male, who assaulted police and tried to flee during his arrest, and a 32-year-old woman. Both were from Pelican Narrows.

The pair have both been charged with the following:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • two counts, careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, unsafe storage of a firearm, Section 86(2), Criminal Code
  • two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, carry a concealed weapon, Section 90(1), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of a firearm without a license, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code; and
  • two counts, remove a serial number on a firearm, Section 108(1)(a), Criminal Code.

The 36-year-old male is also charged with:

  • one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
  • one count, unlawful confinement, Section 279, Criminal Code;
  • one count, assault peace officer, Section 270(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, resist peace officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, possession of a firearm knowing its possession in unauthorized, 92(1), Criminal Code; and
  • three counts, possession of a firearm while prohibited, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code.

The pair made their first court appearance in Prince Albert on Thursday.
