“At the moment, not everybody is back, but we’re sitting at about 11 returning players right now, and a few of the players have played some games as affiliates with us last year. We’ve also got a few other players we’ve acquired that have junior experience elsewhere,” Harnett noted. 

The Ice Wolves will begin the preseason on Sept. 7 against the Flin Flon Bombers at La Ronge’s Mel Hegland Uniplex. They will then travel to Flin Flon for their second preseason game, followed by Big River First Nation against the Nipawin Hawks on Sept. 11 and then back to La Ronge against the Hawks on Sept. 12.  

Harnett said he would like to have about 25 players for the start of the regular season, which will be Sept. 18 against the Bombers in La Ronge.  

“We’re really happy with the group we’ve got,” Harnett added. 

“We had a really good compete the first few practices and we had an intersquad game yesterday. We’re almost three days since we’ve been back from Aberdeen. It’s been really good, so we’ve got some tough decisions to make.”
