‘We also want respect’: CUPE takes 99% strike mandate to Sask. Health Minster Cockrill’s local office
“I am a single-income household. So if I’m not working, there’s no money coming in,” Kimberly Plumb said when asked what strike action would mean for her.
The cook and Red Seal chef was among over 100 health-care workers at a rally outside Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill’s North Battleford constituency office Tuesday, where CUPE 5430 president Bashir Jalloh announced that 13,492 workers had voted and 99 per cent supported strike action.
The vote was held from Sept. 8 to 14. Jalloh called it the largest health-care strike vote in Saskatchewan history.
“We are ready to move to the next action, which is the job action,” Jalloh said.
