‘Harm reduction is love’: MLTC outreach brings care to Meadow Lake streets
For one woman in Meadow Lake, a month without drugs came with a reason to keep going.
“I’m doing things differently because I want to break cycles for my children so they don’t have to go through that,” Patricia Main recalled the woman saying.
Main works in wellness and addiction with Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC), which has expanded its mobile outreach in Meadow Lake this fall. The current two-month rollout began in early September, with the team setting up on Fridays and adding wellness and addiction workers to outreach already underway.
On one of the first Fridays, despite cold and rain, Main estimated more than 50 people showed up. Some came two by two. Others arrived in groups.
