RCMP seize one kilogram of cocaine in Stanley Mission

Oct 1, 2026 | 10:38 AM

Cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized by Stanley Mission RCMP during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

On Sept. 26 at approximately 2 a.m., officers were conducting proactive patrols in Stanley Mission and stopped a vehicle in which police observed drug trafficking paraphernalia and open alcohol in plain view. During a search, officers located and seized more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Suzie McKenzie from Sucker River has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with release order conditions.

In addition, the other two occupants of the vehicle, 33-year-old Erica McKenzie from Sucker River and 29-year-old Jason Roberts from Stanley Mission, were arrested on warrants. McKenzie was wanted for a flight from police charge, and Roberts was wanted for a break-and-enter.

“Proactive patrols are an important part of how we keep our communities safe. In this case, what began as a traffic stop resulted in officers intercepting a significant quantity of dangerous illicit drugs before they could circulate in the community,” stated La Ronge RCMP Staff Sgt. Derek Eberle in a media release issued Thursday.

“This is a clear example of how proactive policing can have a direct impact on community safety.”

McKenzie appeared in court in La Ronge on Sept. 28. There was no information available on the other two individuals.
