Oct 8, 2026 | 12:10 PM

La Ronge RCMP have arrested two adults in connection to a Tuesday night robbery and assault in Bell’s Point.

RCMP were called around 10:45 p.m. on Oct. 6 after receiving reports of an assault in Bell’s Point involving a man on an electric scooter approached by two suspects on a quad.

The suspects assaulted the man, threatened him, and stole the scooter before fleeing the area. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

La Ronge RCMP patrolled the area and found the suspects, one still using the quad while the other was still using the scooter. After an unsuccessful traffic stop, the quad crashed into discarded mattresses in a yard, and the driver tried to flee on foot but was soon arrested by officers.

As for the scooter driver, they were soon relocated by the RCMP using a drone, the scooter was recovered and returned to the owner, and the other suspect was arrested as well.

As a result of investigation, Ashton Cook, 18, and Linda Dumais, 38, of the La Ronge area have been charged with robbery with a weapon, flight from peace officer, and resist/obstruct peace officer.

Additionally, Cook was handed other charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, uttering threats against a person, and fail to comply with release order condition (x3). Dumais was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime less than $5000.

Cook and Dumais appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on Thursday.
