Warning: the following story contains sexual references.

Two men from the La Ronge area have been charged with sexual assault after a woman was attacked during a cab ride.

Akshar Desai, 23, and Keshav Dhillon, 33, are scheduled to appear at provincial court on Jan. 5, 2026.

On Sept. 20, La Ronge RCMP received a report of a sexual assault. The investigation determined a woman was taking a cab, which was occupied by a male driver and a second male.

The cab stopped while on its route and the occupants then attempted to sexually assault the female.

As a result of a continued investigation, La Ronge RCMP charged the two men in early November. Speaking with paNOW the victim said she was charged $60 for a ride from the 5 Buds cannabis store to Bell’s Point.

She said she overheard the men asking each other if they had a condom. One of the men then allegedly came into the back seat where the woman was sitting and began to touch her.

“I said no. And he would not stop,” she said.

The woman was able to eventually escape.

Prince Albert investigation

Meanwhile the Prince Albert Police Service is investigating an unrelated case in which a taxi driver allegedly exposed themselves to a customer.

The incident happened last weekend and police confirmed receipt of a third party complaint in relation to a video posted online where a frantic woman can be heard repeatedly asking a driver to take her to a destination.

In response, the driver can be overheard telling the woman to stop recording, claiming it’s against their policy.

“Since the third party complaint came in, the Prince Albert Police Service has been able to contact both the person who posted the video online, and the taxi company,” a statement from PAPS said.

paNOW has spoken with the manager of the company who advised the driver has been taken off the road pending the ongoing investigation. The manager said the company is cooperating with police. There is no existing policy that prohibits recording in vehicles.

No charges have been laid in this case.
