Stanley Cup champion to headline Ice Wolves Sportsmen Dinner

Nov 26, 2025 | 3:29 PM

The La Ronge Ice Wolves will host Calgary Flames alumni Colin Patterson at their Sportsmen Dinner on Saturday.

Patterson played 10 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1983 and 1993. He played with the Flames for all but two seasons, including in 1989 when the team won its first and only Stanley Cup.

Patterson has been to Northern Saskatchewan before and he said he’s looking forward to being the guest speaker at the Ice Wolves’ fundraiser event.

“I am not a circuit kind of guy, but if people need help, I tend to help them out,” he remarked.

“I know Kevin was looking for somebody and wasn’t getting much traction, so I said I would jump in and help.”

Patterson still lives in Calgary and is active with the Flames alumni. The group of about 100 former NHL players organizes about 200 events every year.

At the Sportsmen Dinner, Patterson will discuss his career, how he made to the NHL, as well as do a question and answer session with the audience.

On Friday and Saturday, the Ice Wolves will also play back-to-back games against the Weyburn Red Wings at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre. Tickets are still available for the Sportsmen Dinner and it will occur immediately after Saturday’s afternoon game at 6 p.m.

The Ice Wolves are currently sitting in last place in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League with five wins and 16 losses for a total of 13 points.
