Southend warns residents to stay off airstrip

Leaders at the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation are warning residents of Southend to stay off the community airstrip.
“Please do NOT drive quads, trucks, snowmobiles or any vehicles on the runway,” reads the notice, issued yesterday.
Recent activity on the air strip has caused ruts in the snow and any land traffic on the runway will cause incoming or outgoing flights to abort immediately.
Having issues at the airstrip affects medevac flights or doctors who fly in to provide health care.
