Youth return from overseas trip in Africa, Europe
A group of 37 students and 11 adults from the tri-communities have returned from an overseas, three-country tour of Morocco, Portugal and Spain.
“I think our goal is always to open those doors and to see the classroom without walls,” said teacher Connie Haugen, who was a coordinator of the trip.
“Helping them see there is more out there and giving them a goal to some day go back to some of those places. Our trips are kind of like teaser trips to help them see what’s out there. For us, it is a goal to have them see the world and experience something new.”
The trip began April 5 and ended April 16. It started in Barcelona, Spain, before they travelled via bus down to Costa del Sol. They then took a ferry across the ocean to Morocco and spent the day in Tetouan. Finally, they travelled to Lisbon, Portugal.
