As a way to mark 50 years, the La Ronge Elks Club members decided to sponsor a $12,000 suite at the new long-term care facility in the name of Ron Fiske. Fiske is an original member of the club, who current members attribute much of their success to.

“One of Ron’s greatest strengths has always been his ability to adapt – welcoming new members, embracing new approaches to the club dynamics, and always keeping our eyes on the mission that has guided us from the beginning: to support where we can and to make our tri-community a better place to grow up and live in,” explained Elks Exulted Ruler Shea Duncan. 

Fiske was surprised by the announcement on Wednesday. He noted the club has changed quite a bit since the 1970s, but has never lost its spirit.  

“It’s pretty touching, I will tell you that,” Fiske said about the donation in his name.  

“I never expected anything like that for sure. We have a good crew in there and that’s what it’s all about. It’s not about me, it’s about these guys here who do all the work.”
