Saskatoon man dominates local triathlon
A Saskatoon man was the top finisher in the main Freeze, Breeze and Wheeze Triathlon in La Ronge on Sunday.
Oleg Kougiya finished the triathlon with a time of 2 hours, 38 minutes and 46 seconds. The race consisted of a 1-km swim, a 40-km bike and a 10-km run.
“Triathlon is not always a face-to-face competition, it is a personal challenge, so I wasn’t focused on coming first (or last). I was enjoying my swim, tried to put out a decent, solid bike…which is my main focus this year…and did a steady-paced tempo run through wonderful trails,” he wrote in a statement to larongeNOW.
“I’d love to have more competition in the long distance field, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until next year.”
