SaskTel doubles Internet speed in La Ronge
SaskTel has launched High Speed interNET Extended 10 in La Ronge and Air Ronge, which has doubled the Internet speed in both communities.
In a release from SaskTel, the Crown corporation said it now offers download speeds of up to 10 megabits per second, up from the five megabits per second previously available. The upgrade comes as part of a commitment to invest $300 million in capital in Saskatchewan in 2017-2018. In all, $1.4 billion will be invested between 2016 and 2021.
“We are pleased to bring faster internet to the residents of Air Ronge and La Ronge,” acting SaskTel President and CEO Doug Burnett said. “SaskTel takes great pride in being the communications leader in the province and we understand how important access to fast and reliable communications services is for the social and economic development of residents all throughout Saskatchewan.”
La Ronge Deputy-Mayor Glen Watchel said it was positive to see SaskTel making investments in the town. He noted technology has taken off unbelievably in recent years, and it’s important SaskTel continues to invest.
