Edible cannabis products expected to arrive in La Ronge next week
Chocolates, gummies and mints will be among the first new cannabis products to hit shelves at La Ronge’s Kiaro next week.
That’s according to Executive Vice-President Andrew Gordon, who said the company has been working closely with suppliers to make sure edibles are available to the public as soon as possible. In early January, he expects other products such as beverages, concentrates and topicals will begin arriving as well.
“Everything will be in child-resistant plain packaging, so it doesn’t appeal to children,” Gordon said. “There will be no alcohol added and we’ll really be making sure these are representative of the consumer demands around these products.”
Cannabis edibles, topicals and extracts were all legal as of Oct. 17, but there was a 60-day waiting period to allow Health Canada to review and approve products. For instance, Health Canada has implemented a limit of 10 milligrams of cannabis per unit per packet rule.
