Boy collects funds and other donations for Lac La Ronge Food Bank
In honour of Pediatric Stroke Month, 10-year-old Kristo McCallum raised and donated $245, as well as two shopping carts full of groceries to the Lac La Ronge Food Bank.
“He has such a big heart and he’s such a caring young man,” Michelle McCallum said about her son. “He has struggles, but he works through them and he always wants to help other people, even before himself sometimes.”
For the last few years, Kristo found a way to give back to the community and this year’s idea was helping the food bank. McCallum stated he likely got the idea from the work students at local schools do for the food bank like packing hampers, adding he wanted to do something on a bigger scale. Kristo, who was assisted by his five-year-old sister Hudsynn decided to set up at table Saturday at Lake Country Co-op in La Ronge to accept donations from the public.
