La Ronge town office closed to public, other restrictions in place
The Town of La Ronge has enacted restrictions with the hopes of stopping the spread of COVID-19.
The changes were revealed at a regular council meeting Wednesday when a press release was given to those in attendance. It states the town’s senior management team has been working closely with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and, at this time, council believes the town is operationally prepared to respond to the developing situation.
“The town is taking all necessary measures within our control to reasonably ensure that proper safety precautions are followed to help contain the virus and reduce the impact a pandemic could have on our existing health care facilities,” the release states.
The Town of La Ronge has implemented the following measures effective immediately including all town-initiated recreational programming has been suspended until further notice, enhanced COVID-19 security measures are in place at the air carriers and Nav Canada at Barber Field Airport. Public access to the Mel Hegland Uniplex, public works shop and fire station are suspended until further notice, and all fire inspections and re-inspections are suspended until further notice.
