Daily case totals continue to rise, 286 new cases brings provincial total to 3,416 currently active

The province is reporting another 286 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, which includes 108 that are in Saskatchewan’s northern zones.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (seven), Far North Central (four), Far North East (25), North West (19), North Central (46), North East (seven).

This brings the provincial total to 57,521 reported cases; 3,416 cases considered active and 53,489 cases considered recovered. Of the cases currently active, 1,721 cases have been identified as active in Northern Saskatchewan.

One new death was also reported today bringing the total to 616 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died, with a case fatality rate of 1.1 per cent.

Over one-third (35.0 per cent) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 year age category.

Over one in eight (9.4 per cent) new cases was fully vaccinated.

NITHA Saskatchewan

There are 72 new cases to report today in NITHA communities. Forty-eight (67 per cent) were unvaccinated, nine (13 per cent) are partially vaccinated and 15 (20 per cent) were fully vaccinated.

There are 371 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities.

These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 21; Far North West, 55; Far North East, 218; North Central, 46; and North East, 31.

There are 151 active cases of COVID-19 Variants of Concern (VOCs) in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central; 10, Far North West, 21; and Far North East, 76; North Central, 29; and North East, 15.

Athabasca Health Authority

As of Sept. 8, there are 23 active cases in the Athabasca Health Authority; five cases in both Black Lake and Stony Rapids, and 14 in Fond Du Lac.
