Volunteers sought for La Ronge downtown revitalization project

Aug 23, 2022 | 5:07 PM

La Ronge council wants to conduct a downtown revitalization project and they’re seeking volunteers to sit on a steering committee.

This project will involve the creation of a vision for the downtown area, as well as a detailed implementation plan. The plan will speak to beautification initiatives, infrastructure changes, existing business supports, new opportunities, and projects, policies, and bylaws that support the overall vision.

“As part of this project there will be opportunities to gain feedback from the community and area in general,” a publlic notice issued Monday stated.

“In addition, the town [will] form a Downtown Revitalization Plan Steering Committee. This committee, comprised of council, stakeholders, and members-at-large, will work closely with town management and our consultant team to develop all aspects of the plan.”

The town is now recruiting members for the steering committee, which is expected to serve from late September 2022 to March 2023.

Anyone interested in serving on this committee should forward their name, background information and a description of why you are interested in participating to Jeff Long at deputycao@laronge.ca no later than Sept. 8.
