Chance of flurries tonight in La Ronge, seasonal temperatures expected for Halloween
Climate Change and Environment Canada Meteorologist Sara Hoffman expects any snow that could fall Monday night in La Ronge will likely melt before it hits the ground.
“As the low-pressure system that brought all the heavy snow to southern Saskatchewan over the weekend exits the Prairies, we’re seeing unstable, cooler than normal air coming behind that system,” she said. “That is leading to pockets of flurries developing. It’s not a big organized system, it’s just sort of pockets of precipitation forming in the wake of this low-pressure system.”
Over the weekend, portions of Saskatchewan experienced the first snowfall of the season. While no snow fell in La Ronge, Prince Albert received four centimetres and Moose Jaw received up to 40 cm.
Monday night in La Ronge the temperature is expected to reach a low of -4 C with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. Hoffman expects La Ronge will get a light dusting of snow, two centimetres at most, that won’t linger for too long.
