NAPATAK RAMBLE

Another successful year for the Napatāk Ramble festival

For more than a decade, an arts festival takes over Potato Lake in northern Saskatchewan and that tradition continued over the Canada Day long weekend.

The Napatāk Ramble was held on June 30 and July 1 and featured over a dozen musical artists and many art-related activities.

For Chair and Artistic Director Colin Jolly, it was a very successful weekend.

“The festival was fantastic; we had a good number of people out. We probably had our best lineup to date and the arts market was pumping with amazing artists.”

The festival, now in its 11th year, introduced a three-day kids arts camp before the festival which Jolly said was well attended.

Many big names graced the different stages at the event including Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys, The Garry’s, Boy Golden, and The Local Group.

Jolly added over the 10-plus years, they’ve held this event, they have seen it grow yearly.

“Whether in attendance or people adding new events or activities to the festival or new faces coming from out of town to visit our area,” Jolly said.

Now that the 2023 event has wrapped up, Jolly said he is already getting things ready for next year’s festival.

“My brain never shuts off,” he joked. “We’re always looking at ways we can improve and be better and we always welcome feedback from artists, musicians, as well as attendees.”
