Athabasca candidates seeking votes for upcoming provincial election

Athabasca candidates have been on the campaign trail this month vying for votes ahead of the Oct. 28 provincial general election

Jim Lemaigre was elected MLA for Athabasca on Feb.15, 2022 as part of the Saskatchewan Party. Prior to his election, he worked in public safety.

Lemaigre is a member of Clearwater River Dene Nation and speaks Dene fluently. He is a retired member of the RCMP, and he currently serves a program manager for the First Nations and Indigenous Policing Program.

Leroy Laliberte is running for the Saskatchewan New Democrats and he is originally from Beauval. He is currently the Community Wellness Manager for Flying Dust First Nation, and the founder and director of Burn Youth/BURN Consulting.

Laliberte has been involved in youth and community development for more than 20 years and has worked with all levels of government to develop positive strategies effecting communities throughout Canada. He is a co-chair to the North West Friendship Centre and he also sits on the advisory council to the College of Medicine/Indigenous Health at the University of Saskatchewan.

Raven Reid is the candidate for the Saskatchewan Green Party.
