Seniors complex in La Ronge set to open in spring of 2019

The Ministry of Social Services is planning for the new 10-unit seniors living complex in La Ronge to be ready for occupancy by spring of 2019.

That’s according to Executive Director of Housing Development Tim Gross, who said the project will be owned by the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation and managed by the La Ronge Housing Authority. He noted six of the units will have one bedroom, while the remaining four will be two-bedroom suites. Of those two-bedroom suites, two will be specially designed to be accessible for those with mobility issues.

“We’ll have the housing authority do the leases up and, if people are interested, they can contact the housing authority to apply,” Gross said. “They’ll go through and do an assessment and prioritize people for the project.”

The units will be rented at a rate affordable to low-income residents. Gross said that means rent will likely be 30 per cent of household income.
