Conservation officers investigating two dozen wasted fish

Jun 3, 2026 | 3:23 PM

Conservation officers are looking to the public for information about two dozen fish left to waste.

On May 21 at approximately 3:30 p.m., conservation officers from Stony Rapids discovered a significant amount of wasted fish at a camping area on the north side of Wapata Lake.

Officers found 15 whole whitefish, seven suckers, and two northern pike. There was also a large pile of filleted fish and discarded parts, which appeared to be mostly walleye and suckers. It is believed these fish were dumped at this location some time between 1 p.m. on May 17 and 3:30 p.m. on May 21.

A cash reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest or conviction of the individual(s) involved. Anyone with information about this violation should contact the provincial toll-free Turn-In-Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line at 1-800-667-7561. Calls are not traced or recorded, and callers can choose to remain anonymous.
