RCMP arrest two men, seek another after Sunday shooting in Bell’s Point

La Ronge RCMP have charged three individuals in regards to a shooting on Sunday that left a man in serious condition in a Saskatoon hospital.

As a result of continued investigation, officers have charged 19-year-old Drayden Charles, 21-year-old Cameron Ratt and 24-year-old Jaron Halkett, all from La Ronge, with robbery with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and ammunition knowingly without a license and unlicensed possession of a firearm.

In addition, Charles is also charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition while prohibited and failing to comply with a probation order.

An RCMP manhunt led to RCMP and SWAT surrounding a residence in Bell’s Point on March 18.

Halkett and Ratt were arrested at a residence on Bird Place on March 18. Halkett is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on March 28, while Ratt is scheduled to appear on April 8.

A warrant has been issued for Charles’ arrest and police are actively working to locate him. Charles is described as approximately 5-9 and 130 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s La Ronge Municipal General Investigation Section, La Ronge Crime Reduction Team, Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team, Prince Albert General Investigation Section, Critical Incident Response Team and Police Dog Services have assisted in this ongoing investigation.
